Bird on the Fan

GEORGE

I was sleeping peacefully last night. Yes, the dogs FINALLY went home and I needed to unwind after such a stress filled week. Suddenly I heard a noise in the basement. Max & Tipper were already down there.

TIPPER

Mom came to the door and listened but didn't come downstairs. I guess she thought we had another mouse and she'd find it in the morning, so she went to bed.

We needed to check out the noise but it was dark and we couldn't see very good. There was such a commotion and flapping noise and Max thought it was Santa but it was a BIRDIE!! . A real, live birdie fell right out of our fireplace in the family room! It flew around and we chased it but we couldn't get it. I never thought I'd see a real birdie in our own basement

MAX

It was defintely the most exciting thing I've ever seen!! Much better than chasing a flying feather on a stick. I'll never be satisified with that again.

We watched our birdie all night and it finally came upstairs into the kitchen. In the morning, Mom heard it flying and then saw it on our ceiling fan. She said to Dad "How am I gonna get this thing out of the house?"
Then she put all 3 of us in the bathroom so she could open the outside doors and let the birdie fly out. But before it did, she took his picture. She said nobody would believe me otherwise. Maye he'll come back some day so we can chase him again.

Holy Cow! What a great adventure!!! We had a sparrow in the house once. He went into the four season porch where all the windows are and was crashing into them trying to get out. Finally he exhausted himself & went to the floor to rest. Then mom was able to gently ppick him up and put him outside.

oh, poor birdie. but, at least he was smart enough to stay high and away from you guys! and, it's good your Mom was able to rescue him. birds are good to have around, you know, they eat bugs!

Poor birdie probably was looking for a warm spot and fell down the chimney. At least nobody was hurt. And that you didn't end up with any damage.

WOW! I am very jealous! I would love to be able to really chase a bird instead of just watching them out the window. --Knightly

If I was there, I would have helped Grandma by barking at the birdie!

My bro Eddie told me a story about a little finch getting into the basement of the house he and my first sister Sophie and Mom lived in a long time ago. Mom had been out and found the little bird a little too late--the poor thing had simply perished from exhaustion trying to keep away from those two. Mom felt awful about that and I guess was pretty mad at them.
