Try Some Fruit

TIPPER

Our friend Daisy told us that her sister Pixie likes eating 'nanas. I like those too, but has anyone ever tried peaches? Mom or Dad always fix some kind of fruit with breakfast and usually I check out what they're having. I really like peaches 'cause they're syrupy and sweet and Mom lets me take a small lick. But I never get to have a slice of my own 'cause she's afraid it would give me litterbox problems (or as Skeezix calls it, "da skwerts")

I like melon, pineapple and applesauce, too and would really like to have a small bite. What kind of fruit have you tried, but most important, did it cause you any litterbox problems?

I really need to know so I can convince Mom to let me have a piece all for myself!

I've tried peaches, they're tasty! In fact I LOVE the syrup from a fruit cup. I think a little bit won't hurt you at all.

I think fruits are good for you. Pixie has about 5 or 6 bite-sized pieces of her bananer every day. She likes green beans too.

Does popcorn count as fruit?

Humans say that cats can't taste sweet things. Obviously this isn't true. Vincent loved fruit too. As long as you only have a little bit, you should be fine.

I am pretty sure that a bananer a day keeps the doctor away.

I like to get a small lick of non-sweetened applesauce. I try to eat grapes, but Mommie ML heard those were bad for kitties and won't let me near them. I like an occasional bite of lettuce or catalope or apple. I have purr-fect litterbox purrformance, so any changes would be immediately noticed.

I say, "GO FOR IT!"

Even if it DOES cause litterbox issues, that's your parents' problem, not yours.

They are the scoopers.

I like pumpkin occasionally, and it's never caused me any problems! Mom says it's supposed to be good for hairballs.

Hmmm, I tried a little bit of naner, and Brainball ate a grape but she didn't like it much. Other than that we haven't ate much fruit but Momma's thinkin' pumpkin might be good for us as a treatie!

Momma says you go ahead and try something and then report back to all of us. No point in all of us getting them squirty things.

You get to sit on the counter! Momma won't let us cuz she says she eats enough fur, already!

I'm not a good one to ask cause I have IBS. I think each cat, like each person has a different tummy. You may not get the squirts from peaches, but another cat would. Maybe try 1 piece, one morning, and see what happens over the course of a few days.
You look like you reeeeeeealy want a piece....

I'm with you, Derby! But all this talk about fruit is making me wonder if there's something to it... I'll let you know if I try it out. All I know is that I HATE citrus fruits! Hate even being in the same room as someone who's eating them. What a nasty smell!

I eat raspberries. My OTW only lets me eat one though. I think I had a piece of strawberry once too. I don't think I've had any poop problems more than I usually do from it. One of my littermates liked fruit too. He'd paw at my OTW's hand until she gave him tiny chunks of apples and peaches and pears and stuff. But no oranges.

Hi Tipper, we don't like fruits. Mom gives us sniffs sometimes but they don't sniff too good. I'm really confused by grapes. Are they food or a toy?

I've never tried fruit. But I do like flour tortillas. Karen (the human who lives with me) hides them in the fridge, so I can't get to them. If she leaves them on the counter, I like to sample bites . . .

Like some of the other cats here, I like cantaloupe. Yum. And the first cat Mom ever had also liked it--a lot. I've been known to go into the compost pile out back and seek out the cantaloupe rinds. They're very fragrant so I know they're there.
