A Reasonable Explanation

MISTY

Um...I know this looks very bad for me, Mom, but I have a reasonable explanation for everything. Do you see the mousie by the chair leg there in the second picture?

Well uh...(gulp)...uh, we were playing... the mousie and I that is... and I threw him over the wall ledge and then jumped after him. But when I jumped, I uh...(cough) I um...I sort of accidently brushed against the flower pot and suddenly it was on the floor in a squillion pieces, and that was the crash you heard and I really didn't mean to break your flower pot.

I think all my friends will agree with me on this, Mom, that sometimes...(ahem) well, you know... sometimes things just happen and besides, I think it's the mousies fault for making me jump over the ledge after him and besides Max is walking in the dirt, too so it's really not just me, and besides I don't think that's a good place to put a flower pot!

Um... so what do you think, Mom?

MOM

I think you're a good girl for telling the truth and you're probably right about not keeping flower pots there until you're older.

MISTY

Phew...what a relief!!!

Misty, you are very right, it was the mousies fault for playing too wild. I can see you are just trying to clean up the mess. Boy am I glad you have an understanding mom and you didn't get in trouble.

Awwwwww, Misty, I've been there. It's hard to tell the truth! 'specially when there are mice and dirt and plants involved. I'm glad you have a good Mommy that understands that kitties like us can get very intense and carried away with mousies!

We're glad yoo didn't git in trubble, cuz after all, accidents do happen, and it's obvious dat the mousie made yoo do it.

It was an accident, it is obvious.
and you are only a kit-ten.

Plant pots are inexpensive... and that plant looks like it was rootbound anyway....

Misty that was very good of you to tell the truth. We have on of those mousies too and they can certainly help you get into a lot of mischief. Harlie actually had a very similar experience this morning... only it was on a shelf in the kitchen, and involved a broken bottle of hot sauce, and it was very VERY early.

Anyway, I'm glad you were honest and everything worked out. Please tell Tipper I say hi, and let her know that pretty soon the new apartment will be nice enough to invite you all over to play!

Ooops! Misty, I'm very glad you told the truth and that your mom was so understanding. I'm lucky we don't have any flower pots around because my humans both have what they call "black thumbs" and any plants in the house end up dying.

You have a very wonderful momma who understands how hard it is not to chase mousies and throw them and...well, they do land in places we're not supposed to go sometimes.

My mousie sometimes gets me into trouble too. My mom says she wants to kiss you on the head and she says "Great pictures!"
