Misty Monday Update

11:30 AM

Misty is being sent home right now. Her ER vet says she's become so uncooperative, lungeing at them & fighting being handled, they feel she'll be better off resting at home. This is so unlike her since she has a very passive, friendly personality, I hope it just means she's feeling better and is tired of all this. Hopefully once she's home, she'll calm down. She'll be on oral pain meds & antibiotics for several days.

She'll have a place in the bathroom, with her bed, food & water and litterbox since I don't want the other 3 bothering her right away. Once we see how she adjusts to being home, maybe she can come out when we're there for supervised family time.

Will update when I have more information from the ER vet.

8:10 AM

I called the vet at 1AM last night, since I was up anyway taking cold medicine, and they said her temperature was coming down.

When I talked to them this morning, they said they started an anti-inflammatory medication and the fever is still coming down, almost to normal. But now that she's feeling a little better, she's getting feisty. She's angry with them for taking her temp so often and chewed out her IV line. They will not replace that unless she doesn't do well on oral medication. Her temp must remain normal and her elimination and eating be normal before she can be released.

I will call them again in mid afternoon and there's an outside chance that if everything is OK, she might be able to come home tonight. Once the animal is out of danger, they'd rather have them recovering at home where they can rest more comfortably but we're dealing with about 7" of snow in our area, so when she can come home will be determined later.

Thank you all for your get well cards, good wishes and continued support. What a great community we have!!

We're so sorry we haven't been able to follow really closely but Misty has not left our purrs. She's a strong little fighter and we're happy to hear she's cranky. Cranky means normal, when Snap got cranky the LL knew things were on the mend.

Bonnie was difficult at the E-Vet, too an was sended home to calm down. Since she was sick only frum stress, stayin there was counter-productif. An we's not allowed on the counters.

::spin:: for Misty coming home! Keep on gettin better. Bein feisty to e-vets is good, but at home you can relax puroperly.

Oh my Bast, I'm just learning about this. Poor, poor girl! We are all hoping that she recovers quickly and I know she'll feel much better being at home and in her own little space to rest. Misty mom, please don't beat yourself up about this. Way way way before me a similar thing happened to one of my mom's original cats. All it takes is a blink of an eye sometimes, no matter how careful moms try to be.

We'll check back later.

I am so glad you're being feisty, that is a good sign. No chewing on stitches or you'll have to wear one of those cone thingies...
