Purrfurmance Review 2009

GEORGE

Alright...now THIS is a great idea!! Thanks to Maggie & Zoey over at Zoolatry for providing just what we all need to bring our humans into line. I urge everycat to do your performance review during the month of November.

I've been complaining and complaining about my secretary's (aka Mom) poor performance for 4 years now, but did it do any good? Did she listen to any of my suggestions? Did she try to improve? More importantly, did she quit her day job, as I suggested, to devote more time to our blogging needs? NO!!!

Thanks to this handy form, now I can show her, on paper, just where I feel she needs to improve her work.

Quantity of Output - The review suggests daily posting to our blog, but we're lucky if our secretary posts two or three times a week. This is unacceptable and must improve - Rating C

Quality of Output - Overall I'm fairly satisfied with the subject matter, photos, etc., but feel the imagination and fun part needs work. For instance, we haven't run a contest in over 2 years! - Rating C

Pawticipation I - We're Catster members and can easily be contacted by clicking on our blog sidebar email link or by comment - Rating A

Pawticipation II - I think we participate in only about 1/3 of everything fun that happens in The Cat Blogosphere. We don't take part in nearly enough contests or special events and who even remembers the last time we went to a party! Plus, you're not spending nearly enough time promoting my group, Coats of Many Colors - Rating D-

Client Satisfaction - We average between 10-25 comments per posting, but there's always room for improvement and an increase in readers - Rating B-

I want to add another very important section to my review --"Visiting friends and commenting".

Visiting/Commenting - Here is where you need improvement, Mom. Some days we only visit a few friends to leave comments and some days we don't get out to visit ANY! - Rating D

Overall Rating - Based on the above, your rating is a low "C" and needs real improvement.

Your nearly failing grades in two sections brought down your overall average and I would like you to try hard to bring your average up to at least a solid "B" before your next review. In view of your mediocre rating, there will be no pay raise this year and the entire Crew will be watching you closely, in between our naps of course.

MOM

Don't you think this is a bit harsh, George? I mean, I do read TCB news every day to keep up on current events. And remember, I have a few health issues, I work full time, I take care of you 4 and Dad plus a big house & yard and sometimes I go to your sisters to help out with our Girl!

GEORGE

No excuses!! If other secretary's can do it, so can you.

But....on second thought, I might be inclined to improve your grade to a C+ in exchange for, oh let's say.... a daily ration of treats, and not just for myself, but for the entire Crew. And not just one flavor, either...a variety would be nice.

That seems a very fair purr-fur-mance revire to us. In fact we don't think we will be quite as generous as yourselves when we come to review our bean!

Oh dear! Your mum didn't do very well did she. We think you may have judged her rather too harshly though. We haven't done our mum's review yet, but we can tell her one thing for sure, all this going off gallivanting and leaving us locked up is definitely going to show on her report.

Looks like mom must make some improvements, and we bet the treat thing will work! So, keep a close eye on her and maybe she'll get her act together! There's LOTS of times we wanna fire our mom too! 'Specially on the weekends.

Wow, we really need to get our mom's performance review up! We never thought of demanding treats to increase her score; thanks for the suggestion!

I tell my People #2 to read this and he says that this reminds him too much of worrying too much about grades in school.

According to this evaluation, he is TERRIBLE at blogging. But he is an excellent writer. Most of the time.

Do you agree that posting every day is essential for maximum exposure?

This sounds naughty. ;)

Paws n' Claws,
Rupert

Wow this is a harsh review - we are like your mom - we don't particpate enough, we don't post enough and we don't visit enough, so we can totally sympathize with her. I am so glad we aren't doing a review this year!

Well, your review is quite harsh, but it is important not to have grade inflation. The purrsons will be motivated to improve if you don't automatically give them charity grades of A.

However, you also need to be sure to appreciate what you have. It could be MUCH worse. Don't take the Mom completely for granted!

George, I think your solution to help your mom improve her grade in exchange for treats is a great idea!

We have not done our mom's revue yet as we don't seem to agree on stuff. Speedy gets to post so much more offen den da rest of us, which really isn't fair, but den again he REALLY likes to talk. We'll get ours done. It was really nice of yoo guys to offer to help her raise her grade in exchange fur a few treats.

That's the thing with people. Can't blog with them, sure can't blog without them. What is a cat to do?

Hmmmm...George, are you willing to take a bribe for a good grade???

Wow George you really were strict on your review! I cut mum some slack on the daily posting. If I don't have anything to say, well why post. But mum does let me visit and do the parties.

She may not post often enough, but we really do laugh over here.

Whoa, that was a tough review! Our Mommy is starting to get scared, reading all these reviews. That two-week break we were just on is not gonna be a Good Thing for her. It's a good thing we got back in time for us to see this review thing needed to be done, we'd best get on that!

Purrs and hugs,
The Kitty Krew

George, I'm proud of you. I know it's difficult to review someone you have a close relationship with, but you were able to maintain your perspective and offer up a quality review with good suggestions for improvement. If your mom does not respond to her review, though...

Glogirly is very scared. She needs to read more performance reviews like yours. You've got her thinking!

thanks,
