A Milestone 5th Blogiversary
Wow, our 5 year blogiversary is in 2 days! I can hardly believe we've been doing this 5 years already and we're considered to be among the old timer legends in our community.
I was a young guy, only 8 years old, when we did our first posting and it was right after Dad broke his leg. That's when Mom somehow discovered our inspiration, Max the Psychokitty, who still remains my personal hero.
Ahhh...what memories and what changes have happened over these 5 years.
First I'll talk about the memories.
The cat blogging community was so small back then it was easy to visit everyone every day. We met cats all over the world and quickly made lots of friends, some who are no longer with us, either having gone to The Bridge or simply stopped blogging. Some, like us, have kept at it, despite having doubts as to whether we could keep coming up with ideas for new posts.
Sometimes we miss our old friends who are gone or have stopped blogging. To be honest, there have been many times when Mom said "Georgie, I can't do this any more. We're going to stop blogging", but fortunately, she hasn't done that yet!
Max, who's so big now, was a scrawny little guy of 18 months and barely out of his kittenhood when we started. Tipper wasn't even 3 and Misty wasn't even born yet. I'm proud to say I raised them all and each one has turned into a wonderful sibling.
Tipper found her boyfriend, Mattingly, back in 2007. Then Max wooed and won the heart of Harlie, Mattingly's sister. Mattingly & Harlie don't blog much anymore. Right around the same time Misty found her boyfriend, Speedy, and they're still happy together.
There were so many things going on back then. The first Cat-O-Lympics in which Max won a gold medal (then the second earlier this year in which Misty won a bronze medal) and the great cat Presidential Debate (I'm proud to say I was Senior Advisor for the Chey/Derby ticket). I think our first chat room experience was so Tipper & Misty could go to a big Valentine's party back in 2007. For a long while there were plenty of awards and "me-me" tags going around and we learned lots about our friends and their humans. There were so many groups, contests, songs and games we can't even remember all of them, but we entered and had fun. We even ran a contest ourselves (remember the Face Twin contest?) There were some great house trashing parties and even many weddings (who could forget Chey & Latte, who were the first to be married, or Karl & Ruis' wedding aboard the Starship Enterprise, Miss Peach & Mickey, Gree & Othello, Ariel & Mao or Skittles & Sly?)
What great memories.
But, life goes on and things change. So, let's talk about changes.
The main change is that we can't possibly keep up with all the cat bloggers any more. Our community is HUGE and newcomers keep coming & coming and is it any wonder, since being a blogging cat is such a great experience?! We try to greet newcomers, but we know there are many we've missed when we see their names here and there in other's comments. There's so much going on in the Cat Blogosphere now, things happen and we don't find out about them 'til afterwards. Of course, I blame this on my secretary (aka Mom), who would have time to keep up with our blogging if she'd just quit her job and stay home all day.
Our biggest family change was when our human sister B got married. Then about 2 years later, we got our Blurpy Girl, who is now a Sticky Person of 27 months. This is a sneak preview and I'm only telling my closest friends...THE STORK BIRDIE WILL BE DROPPING OFF ANOTHER BLURPY IN A FEW DAYS!! The most important thing is, this one will wear blue, like me. I'll let you know when he arrives.
The second change was when Reyna the dog came into our lives. Up 'til then, our human sister had 2 dogs, Daisy & Shasta, both Bichon Frise's, and we Crew members got along with them OK. Then Daisy unexpectedly went to The Bridge and shortly after that, Reyna was adopted. She's been in this family 3 years now and we still don't like her, but she keeps coming around anyway.
Mom & Dad have been remodeling our house for what seems like forever and we got a new bathroom downstairs and a half-done new one upstairs (which we don't have pictures of), new floors, a new dishwasher and a new deck, all of which turned out well under Max & my excellent snoopervision, if I do say so myself!
Our latest change was when our human brother J moved in with his 3 cats, Tiger, Cricket & Gino and Reyna moved in while she's going to dog school. (Ha! Dog school!! We cats don't need to go to school...we're born knowing everything we need to know. Imagine, having to be taught to "SIT". Yes, we cats truly are the superior species.)
That pretty much brings us to the present and we want to say what with all the latest changes here, we do need to cut back a bit. Don't worry, we're not stopping entirely and will be around as much as we can.
To everyone, thanks for staying with us for 5 years, and KEEP ON BLOGGING!
