A Lesson in History

The three of us have discussed this and we all agree that we cannot remain silent on this matter.

We've been watching a 4 part mini-series on PBS called Texas Ranch House, where modern day people live like people would have on a southern Texas cattle ranch in 1867. There's the ranch owner and his family, the foreman and the ranch hands, all of whom have names and important responsibilities. There's even a dog named Howie, who spends most of his time chasing chickens!

However, we feel we must take issue with the fact that no one has introduced the viewers to the ranch cat. The cat is seen in some scenes and is a very nice looking yellow tabby, but the gender is unknown and this critical member of the cast remains unnamed! Is this a deliberate insult to all felines, or just an oversight on the part of PBS?

Just consider the important role a ranch cat would have had in 1867. Without a cat, or maybe several, the premises would have been overrun with vermin!

I invite cat bloggers to weigh in on this matter. Should we send a strongly worded letter to PBS possibly along with a box of mice, hold a rally in support of the ranch cat, or boycott something (but what?) to make our point?

If we allow this to go unchallenged who knows what else will be overlooked regarding the important historical relevance of cats in the formation of our country!!

Boycott Dogs? I am in!

People are so specieist. Dogs did the same thing back then as they do know; sit around and stink. Cats were the ones saving the ranches from vermin.

A box full of mice sound good.

Now, I meant not 'know'. I was just so caught up in the moment, my grammar went out the window.

Yup, they should definitely introduce the cat. Send them a few swats from me.

This really stinks, like a dirty litter box! Count us in; maybe we could go to PBS and make a stand, wouldnt that just get them if 100 cats showed up? Ah, yes, nice thought.

Well, maybe he or she just didn't want the whole thing that goes with fame. Just look at what Kukka-Maria has to put up with!
