The Shower
MISTY
I heard something today that I don't understand. On Sunday my human sister is coming to my house to take a shower and Mom says I have to be good.
Why? Why should I have to be good while my sister takes a shower?
TIPPER
(sigh) Well, I'm the one that wanted a baby sister!
Now listen Misty, let me explain this. When a lady gets married.....
MISTY
What's married?
TIPPER
Married is when 2 humans love each other and decide they want to be a family, like Mom & Dad.
Anyway, before they get married, the lady gets a shower, but not the kind in the bathtub. This is a special party where everyone gives her presents...sort of like a purrthday or when Santa comes. Oh wait, you don't know about Santa yet do you...and you haven't had a purrthday yet. Hmmm...do you even know what a present is?
OK, let me try this again.
When humans gets married, they need things for their house, like towels and dishes and stuff. These things are called presents. Then the friends and family decide to have a party where they give away presents. A shower party is where everyone comes over and they eat lots of food and cake and they talk and play games. But don't worry, we'll put our toys away so no one plays with them.
Then after all the presents are opened, the shower is over and everyone lives happily ever after! Now do you understand?
MISTY
Yeah, but I don't understand why I have to be good.

I think you should bathe all the guests with your tongues--humans really dig that!
Plus, I found your gift. Thank you! I added it (plus commentary) to my gift receipt list. The cyber postman spammed it without my consent. UGH! It's not like you bought me Viagra or Cialis!
Frankly, neither do I. They are going to make a lot of noise and disturb you but YOU are the one supposed to be good?
C'mon!
Even though you may understand the real reason behind this silliness, I think you should feign ignorance and give them all a proper feline shower like Kukka stated. You can always claim later that you didn't know, and who wouldn't believe that? After all, homo sapiens do think they know everything about anything, and that anything with four paws knows nothing about everything. ;)
Oh you two are so cute! Momma's not had a shower for anyone while I'm here. I wonder how fun it is?
Momma went to a shower last week and she wasn't even a bit wet when she got home. I am lots older than Misty, but I still don't understand it.

First, Tippy and Misty, what a wonderful picture of the new sisfurs.
Second, don't get wet at this shower. Don't try to eat the human food either.
Bridal showers means lots of ribbons and wrapping paper to play with. Have fun!
OMGosh! Tipper and Misty...You are the cutest!!! You look like you could be Misty's momma! What a good big sister you are! Misty, you'll see soon enough, why you have to be good! Just listen to your big sis and mom and be good!
You have to bring a gift. I suggest you work on a really nice hairball... Obviously people like them. Buddah gave one to the Man this morning. We know he liked it because he said "Just want I wanted to face first thing today..."
I think I get the shower concept but I still think it relates somehow to something I don't want which is water raining down on my furry head. As far as presents go a copy of that beautiful picture of you both, Tipper and Misty, would be a nice addition to any household wall.
Yes yes, what Ayla said. Lots of ribbons and wrapping paper to play in. Have fun, you guys!

That a pretty pair you two make. I would make the Mom clarify what, exactly, "being good" during this shower entails. Perhaps a small bribe? (Tipper, do teach the youngster about bribes. One is never too young to learn that bit of information...)

Tipper and Misty, what a precious pair you make! And Misty, pay attention to your sister. She can teach you EVERYTHING!
See, this is why I don't efun try to talk to Victor.
... but presents means tissue, an tissue is wonnerful to sleep in. You do look adorable, but I wouldn't be caught dead touching Victor like that. It's fine fur sum cats, just not fur me.
