My Dad is NOT Weird
GEORGE
You all know my Dad and I have a very special relationship. Every day I wait on the bathroom sink while he showers and we talk while he gets ready for work. Then I ride on his shoulder out to the kitchen where he gets his juice and takes his pills. Then I have another holding while he sits down and watches the morning news and I rub my face on his to mark him with my scent.
Well, this morning he said, "You know Georgie, I talk about you all the time. Everyone knows about you". Well, of course, I thought, that's the way it should be! Everyone should know about me. Then he said "Some people might think I'm a little weird, talking about my cat like I do. But other people talk about their dogs, so why shouldn't I talk about you?"
Why not, indeed! Why is it OK for someone to talk about "Rover" or whatever silly names people give their dogs, but it's weird for someone to talk about their cat?! Are cats less important than dogs? Just consider the response from the cat blogosphere about "Tails of Devotion" and "Food Dude/Food Lady". Those stories prove we cats can and do have very special relationships with our families. We are just as capable of giving love and affection as any dog is!
So if my Dad wants to tell everyone about me, and because they're not cat lovers they think it's weird, I say GET OVER IT! There's nothing weird about me or my Dad!

I agree totally, George. In fact, I think talking about dogs should be outlawed and talking about cats made mandatory!
That's the truth dude!
Mum talks about me and other kitties all the time at work. Some of the other beans have kitties and woofies too.
Plus one of the new people has a kittie who is the spitting image of Fat Eric. Mum is working on getting a picture of him.
Of course your daddy isn't weird. My mommy and daddy (especially mommy) talk to me all the time. She also talks about me and shows people pictures and I have a scrap book that is just the story of me! All cats should have nice beans like ours who love us and are proud of us! Poor George, I have to have special soft food for my IBS and I'm picky too. Presecription Hill brand (WD or ID) in chicken flavor. Yuuuuuuuuuuuumy.
Whoo Hoo!! You tell em! Dat's da way it is and dat's the way it's gonna be. Cats rule, dogs drool.
Owr Paw talks to us all the time too. He sings silly little songs about us. Annie helps him take his showers. Dorf helps him eat his breakfast. Poodies is bery important to their beans.

I thought that it was weird for a cat to drink out of one of my co-workers glass, until I got Munchkin, I share just about everything wif him. Funny how we beans are.
My Dad talks about me all the time, and likes hearing about other kitties, but has little patience for woofie talk. Of course it is not weird!
We personally fink that talking about cats is more interesting ~Merlin, Shadow, Ko KO
Me and my humans agree with you George. Talking about cats is certainly not weird.
Can you believe that at my dad's work, some people bring their woofies to work? But they aren't allowed to bring their cats. I think that is species discrimination! Oh well.
I hope your dad continues to talk about you. You are very important to him and he is very important to you. Certainly not weird.
The Lap Lady talks about us all of the time. She doesn't care what other people say, we are her family and she loves to talk about our antics. Besides, cats are MUCH better than dogs!!
Kaze
Your Daddie sounds great!
Your dad is as sane as they come! Fortunately, there is not that negative stereotype about men and cats (is there?). If you like cats and you're a woman, you're a "Crazy Cat Lady" (just ask my Agent).
Your dad is normal...no, better than normal.
haha, if that is considered weird, I am surprised someone hasn't tried to have me locked up somewhere by now then.

I wish my dad would talk about me! But I think we have a rather private relationship - except for what we've shared here on the 'net.
Mom, she gushes about us.
~Jake
Right you are George. Your Dad is not weird at all. Our Mom talks about us all the time. She just ignores the people that say that it is weird. She always says they if they don't want to talk about cats they should start a conversation of their own about a topic that interests them and stop complaining.
I understand completely, George. I am "Daddy's Girl," even though Momma does everything for me. She tries and tries to hold me, but Daddy's lap is the only one good enough for me. I help him dress in the morning too. If I am not on his lap, I am on the floor, right next to him. Daddy's are speshul!!

We don't unnerstand. We write our own posts. The Big Thing turns on the computer and we walk on the keys when he leaves.
Then he returns and translates our typing into Big Thing words (sometimes he has to ask us questions).
But as long as we kitties get to communicate on the internet, it really doesn't matter how we do it.
PUUURRRR!
Exactly!
we're probably the only thing our Lady talks about. after all, the teenagers haven't done anything interesting recently.
Grr
Your Daddy is definitely not weird. People like to talk about the things that are important to them and you are very important to your Daddy.
If your human Dad is weird, that would make *my* human Dad weird! He talks to me in a nice quiet voice that doesn't hurt my ears and rubs my tummy just the way I like it. All I can do is close my eyes and purrrrr.
No, if your human is like my human, he's a pretty cool dude.
