Something Disturbing

I just heard about something very disturbing! Max the Psychokitty knows that someone stole his picture, altered it, and is using it on a blog called The 6 Cats of Inverness.
Here is the real Max's picture on the left and the altered picture called "Mindy". You can clearly see they are the same cat...everyone's friend Max!!! Go to Max's page to learn more.
If you go to the site, you'll also see a cat that looks a lot like me. Here is the real me on the left and a cat called "Gidget" on the right. Normally we wouldn't question this at all. We'd think "Gosh, she looks like me!", but since it's obvious Max's picture was stolen, we don't know quite what to think about this. Was my picture stolen and altered, too?
We all know that being a member of the Cat Blogsphere has become the "in thing" these days for kitties and new kitties are joining every day. But with so many real kitties needing homes, why don't people adopt instead of stealing other cats pictures?
I want to thank Max and my dear Speedy for bringing this matter to our attention.

We were very upset to see that. Do you know that by linking to them, you are potentially boosting their rankings in the search engines?
I think that as most of us have seen them that we should have the link only on one post and then point people to the post so they can go check out this place (that would help Max and probably hurt them).
I have suggested that Max do a whois search and contact their internet provider.
Chey, you can be sure we WILL NOT link back to these people! We do not condone stealing cats pictures and claiming they're someone else!

I gotta wonder if they didn't just get my picture off Kitten War, without realizing it was me. Still...who does that? It's not like I don't allow anyone to use my picture, but my awesomeness deserves credit.
I hope that's not your picture, too, misty, but my gut says otherwise. Look through your photos and see if you have one of yourself in the pose, but mirrored the other way.
THAT'S who the gray & white kitty on their site reminded me of -- it was making my Momma crazy cuz she kept thinking she's seen that picture before!

Oh Misty what a bad thing they did. I looked at the pictures yesterday and thought some of them look very familiar.
But I was just over there, all kittie pictures are now gone. Just a bunch of people pictures and the blog name changed to WE OTTA HERE!

We's looked at that site befores it was taken down and thought alots of the kitty pictures were stolens. YAY for all us that stick togethers!!
Oh that's great news, they weren't only steeling over cats identities, but were bad mouthing good kitties! :(

Yep, I read all that on Max's site and went over to the offending site and there were no pictures! And now it's been taken down-Woot! We have all power!
They posted a few kittie pictures again today. I think we need to keep an eye on these guys.

Parker is right, It's not right to steal our kitty faces! Thanks for the update. Glad the bad kitty face stealers got their blog closed down.
That is very disturbing. I don't understand why someone would do that, and what they get out of it. It is so wrong. I'm glad the pictures were took down.
