Misty's First Day Home

MISTY

Hello everyone. I'm living in the bathroom now. Mom put my bed and some food & water and a litterbox in here for me. I'm really, really tired and can't stand up good.

I'm very skinny now and Mom wants me to eat, but I don't feel like it. She wants me to drink, too, and I don't want to so she gives me water in a plastic thing in my mouth. I have to take lots of icky medicine that I don't like. It tastes terrible, but Mom says it will help me feel better.

Everyone is hissing at me. Well not everyone, just George, Tipper & Max. They said I smell weird. Mom, do I smell weird?

MOM

You smell like the hospital, sweetie. But don't worry about it. After a few days, that smell will go away and you'll smell like our house again.

MISTY

(sigh) Is that where I was, in the hospital?

MOM

Yes. Dr. Olsen at Care Animal Clinic saved your life and Dr. Jacobs at Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center fixed your insides. If it wasn't for them, you'd be at The Bridge now. After you're well, we'll send them a thank you note, OK?

MISTY

OK, but not right now. I need to rest.

That looks like a very comfy bed to chillax and heal in Misty. Rest is the best medicine besides eating and taking your yucky medicines. Each day you will get better and better.

Hugs and purrs from Chi Town!

I think after all of that it is normal that you want to snooze so much. All those meds may be making your little tummy feel funky--and it's got enough reason to feel funky little one.

Misty, it takes an awful lot of energy for your little body to heal, so you need to get all the rest you can. Food and water are good for making energy, so please try to nibble and sip a bit. The most important thing is to take your medicine and rest. The hospital can be a good place (sometimes) and that smell will go away. It's definitely better than The Bridge.

Misty, I'm sending purrs and nuzzles to you for a quick recovery! *sniff* I don't smell anything strange!

Medicines are icky, but they will help you heal up good. I'm sorry you're getting hissed at. Tazo hissed at me for a couple of days when I first got home. You'll get rid of the hospital stink soon, especially once you feel like grooming again. But be careful of those stitches!!! Don't chew them or you'll have to get a cone head. And don't let anybody else chew them either. :) Hang in there. We're still purring and purraying for you.

Ask someone to bring you a donut. I bet that would appeal to you.

I remember when I was sick and didn't want to eat. Well, I *wanted* to but it was like I couldn't remember how to get started. I think the Woman opened a can of chicken to make chicken salad and I wanted some of that so she gave me some. And tuna water. Those things made me finally start eating again.

And now I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. I wonder if we have any more donuts...?

Just popping in to check on you, Misty. Hope you've had some snacks and some water and lots of good naps. Do you have to eat super small meals of special, bland kibble all through the day? I didn't mind that because I got to eat every three hours. The Mom didn't like it so much because she hadded to get up during the night. heh heh Hope your tummy is starting to feel better. Has your vet suggested Pepcid AD? 10mg.. cut into 4ths. 1/4 tab before meals.

ASK THEM first before trying... Dehydration sours their stomach... Pepcid helped calm my cat's stomach.

Also... you might want to ask you vet to show you how to give her fluids at home. It's really easy and less stressful for the cat.

:)

I hope she feels better soon.
