The Indignity of it All

TIPPER

I try to keep up with my grooming and beauty rituals...I really do! But I'm ashamed to tell you that I'm having that fur clump problem on my back again 'cause there are a few places I can't reach. See? (sniff) And this time it's even worse than it was before!!

Mom tries to comb me, but I don't like it so I bite the comb and she can only do a few passes along my back before I run off.

So, last night Mom & Dad decided they should cut out my clumps. This is just completely embarrassing. (sniffle) I want to look beautiful but instead of being smooth & luxurious, my back looks ratty and now (sniff)... now (sniffle)... I'll have (sob) BALD SPOTS all over!!!

MOM

Try to relax, Tipp. Dad will hold you while I snip out these clumps and it'll only take a few minutes. If we don't do it this way, you'll have to go to the V.E.T. and they'll shave your back.

TIPPER

What, WHAT!?! SHAVE MY BACK!!!! Oh my Bast...oh NO! (screams & tries to escape, clawing Dad's arm) Oh help... HELLLLLLP!! SOMEONE HELP ME!

MOM

Tipper...stop struggling and calm down. I'm not shaving your back, I'm just clipping these mats. Now hold still!!

There, we're done. See, that wasn't so bad, was it? You know Tipp, if you let me comb you, these clumps wouldn't get so matted and it wouldn't be such a big deal to take care of them.

TIPPER

I'm not speaking to you right now, Mother! (stalks off indignantly)

ah yes.... that used to happen to the Bailey Monster when she lived here.
it no happens to me cuz my fur is purrfect.

Jenny: PEANUT BUTTER! Be nice! We are so sorry for your trauma! PB would freak if I did that to her, I'm lucky I can even get a brush near her because she thinks her grooming is far superior to anything i can do!

It is okay. Sometimes it happens. You didn't have to have nearly so many clumps clipped as Georgia. She has to have so many because she is not good at reaching ANYTHING, except her paws and face.

Bald spots are much better than a shaved back. Think of it as a bold new hair style.

Mom catsits for a friend named Patches and he gets hair mats all over really bad. He's even had the famous Lion Cut a couple times. This winter he is almost mat free. His mom thinks its because she's been humidifying the air this winter.
We hope you'll be ok Tipper!

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Maybe it's time to submit to the comb Tipper, it would certainly be better than shaving!

Come and see my new video to see how enjoyable a good combing can be!

Brave! And cruel. Our humans uses a glove with small rubber bumps for our grooming. We let them - but only when we get treats.

We hope your fur grows out and behaves in the future!
