Making Things Clear

GEORGE

Well, we had a bit of excitement last night.

When Mom was getting ready for bed she heard us running in the kitchen & hallway and she thought we were playing thundering herd. The bedroom door was still open and suddenly she saw a MOUSE run down the hall into her room with Tipper chasing it. It ran into the closet, which is a mess by the way, and by that time all 4 of us were in the bedroom!

Mom asked Dad to get up to look for it, but he refused so she took her pillows and went to the bedroom upstairs and shut the door. She said she refuses to sleep in a room with a mouse in the closet!

Today, both Mom & Dad gave us strict orders to dispatch the mouse before they get home from work, but friends, if you saw their closet you'd know just how much of a problem this is going to be. So, on behalf of the entire Crew, let me just say this, Mom...our job is to catch mice, not clean closets. I feel it necessary to familiarize you with the pertinent sections of the lengthy job description each kitten/cat has to memorize when it finds it's forever home.

Alright, we'll skip over the stuff about litterboxes, food, toys, companionship, blah, blah, blah and go right to Section 4, Paragraph 10 which reads: "As part of your room & board, your human will expect you to keep the premises free of unwanted rodent infestation. This may include, but is not limited to, mice, rats and chipmunks, both indoors and outdoors. You will patrol the premises and quickly dispatch any rodents found, presenting them to your human as proof of your work". You'll note Mom, there is no mention of cleaning out a closet to find said rodent!!

The Crew will be happy to send that mouse to mousie heaven, but YOU need to clean out the closet first! Once this is done, get back to us and we'll take over. And may I remind you there is no mention of a time frame in the contract, therefore any mousing will be done at our convenience. After we get the mouse, we will consider the subject closed and there will be no further discussion as to why 4 cats couldn't get one mouse before it ran into your bedroom.

I find this post to be incredibly important to the younger generation of felines seeking immediate forever homes. It's important to know the creed and to know what are your feline rights. Every feline has the right to refuse cleaning closets, and with four cats in your home, I would have thought that your Mom would have known this best! I'm almost a bit shocked. Almost.

We are glad we don't have to get a mouse out of Mom's or Dad's closet! We might get lost or injured! Please let us know if you found it!

Oh a real live mouse! I think the male would have gotten a broom because he wouldn't have liked a mouse in the closet either!

I definitely agree, your parents need reorientation! And the poor little mouse might croak on its own in such a closet!

I have personally never caught a mouse but China Cat has caught quite a few. She agreed that if a mouse went into our Mom's closet she might not be able to find it either. We were glad you reminded us of the rules in Section 4, Paragraph 10.

Good luck with your mousing...

Jeez Louise, do your beans expect you to do everything? I've seen messy bean closets and Bast knows what you'd find in there before you would find a mouse.

Your beans should clean the closet, then you'll kill the mousie and then deliver it to them, in bed at 3:00am. That is how it works.

Yeah, an messy closet is such a wonderful spot for the mousie to hide. It could be days before you would find him.

I am like you, I only clean myself.

What a great story. Hope you caught the mouse without having to clean up the closet. You could have messed it up more. Mom was giggling when she read it. Right before we moved mom saw a mouse running in the kitchen. She thought for sure we would catch it but it disappeared. I'm sorry to admit we couldn't find it. Durn, we could have brought it over in a box. But apparently we didn't cause we never saw it again.
