Starting Our Day Early

You know, I think Mooch must have been asleep at his post. I mean really, what self respecting cat would start his or her day at 5:30AM!!















We Crew members usually get started between 4-4:30AM milling around in the hall outside the bedroom door. Sometimes, if we're lucky, we get started even earlier if Mom or Dad get up to use their litterbox room!

But if they don't open the bedroom door, one of us will scratch at it and meow pitifully. Usually Max does this 'cause Mom has a very soft heart and can't stand to hear Max crying, so we let him do it. He's a very good actor, I must say, and gets excellent results.

Once Mom (sometimes Dad, but usually Mom) is up, one of us will dash into the kitchen and sit by our feeder, feigning starvation after a long night. Meanwhile the other three get up on the bed and when Mom comes back to the bedroom she doesn't have the heart to kick us all out! Thus starts the pre-dawn ritual.

It's a simple, yet very effective strategy.
