Yes, I Know My Name!
TIPPER
You all know I usually visit with Dad for a few minutes in the evening. I sit on the arm of the couch and we talk.
Well, last night I was sitting there but facing Mom, looking over her shoulder and helping her do her crossword, when Dad called my name. Naturally, I turned my head to see what he wanted.
Do you know, he acted surprised! What's wrong with him? Does he think I'm stupid and don't know my own name?!
MOMTipp, you just have to remind Dad how smart kitties are. All cats know their names.
But remember dear, you're the only one in our family who comes running when you're called, so that means you're extra smart!

(sigh) Thanks, Mom. That makes me feel a little better.

Of course we know our names. Doesn't mean we have to come running every time somebody calls it. After all, we are cats, we know best.
We know our names, too, but sometimes answering to it doesn't fit into our schedule.

Just cause Mom has to call Kirby's name several times does not he does not know his name! It just means he is ignoring her!
I usually come running. But Gemini doesn't.
My Spunky Doodle knows her name but seldom comes when called, unlike our dog. Spunky does com running though when the Tuna Flakes are opened and if she hears the can opener.
We all know are names, whether we choose to answer to them is another matter.
Well of course you know your name...you just might not acknowledge the human when they say it!
When mom calls one of our names, one of us comes...but never the one she called. The acoustics improve drastically when she has a can or pouch of Stinky Goodness in her hands...we hang on her every word then.
I know my name too. I sometimes come when I am called, specially if I think I will get treats or scritches.

Tipp, I can tell you are a very nice and attentive cat. I tend to be a bit more aloof. Some would even say sarcastic. When Gloman calls my name, I sometimes like to mess with him. He'll keep calling it and calling it, getting louder and louder. I love driving him crazy by ignoring him. I even move my ears so he KNOWS I'm listening.
When my girl Glogirly calls, I always look and pay attention. Unless I'm napping.

I come running when I hear my name called too. You never know when someone might have some ham for you.

You answer to your name? We only do when there is food involved...
Oh sure, we post with names, but the only werds we really pay attention to is "Dinnertime, Dinnertime, Din, Din, Dinnertime..."
Like most of the kitties here, we knows our names but don't always respond...depends on our mood. MOL

I certainly know my name ...as mom's always yelling "Ariel No".
I think I know my name. Because when Mom says Simba LIE DOWN, I usually obey. Though maybe I only know LIE DOWN. That's what she says when I block the computer screen.
