A Lesson on Dipping
GEORGE
You know I like ice. I wait for Dad to put ice in my water fountain and I prefer ice water in glasses or cups. I really prefer to drink fresh, cold water 'cause who wants to drink stale, yukky water, right?
So when Mom or Dad have something in their cup I always check it out, and if they don't hold on tight, I'll tip it over! It's something I enjoy doing and I don't understand what their objection is!!!
Anyway, here I am getting a drink out of Dad's cup. I dip my paw in and then bring it up to my mouth and lick a few drops at a time. It's really the neater way to do it, and you don't have to stick your entire face into the cup. Sure, it may take a little bit longer, but I'm in no hurry. I'm not going anywhere.
So go ahead friends...dip in, stir around, get the right amount of water on your paw and lick away! But remember, sometimes there are things in cups that aren't water with ice. This is especially true on weekends or when humans don't have to go to work!
Protect yourself and always know what you're dipping into before licking!

BigIg used to do that! I like to drop things in my water bowl to pull them out. It's so fun!
I usually just stick my whole face inside. I might have to try your technique though. It looks very neat.
Vincent used to do that too. He was also a lefty like you. We would like to do that, but we get shooed away if we get anywhere near the table.
I really like your technique. I tried that with chocolate milk once - but I sort of got yelled at. :(

Yes, be sure to sniff what's in the cup or glass before you stick your paw in to drink it. People sometimes drink things that cats would find very nasty.
I dip my paws in water to drink it too, unless I'm drinking it directly off my OTW's fingertips when she's in the shower. It's neater, funner, nocat can sneak up on you, and you can make sure the water is the correct temperature before you get it on your tongue.
Just watch out for that coffee stuff!
I love ice in my water! I also love to drink off my paw. You've got excellent technique - Midnight and Cocoa aren't skilled at this at all, though Cocoa will look for a spoon or fork left on a plate and then flip it to the floor with his paw.
Grr
Ooo, that's furry clever. I'm gonna try it.
I don't usually dip and drink, but I am careful to double check what mum has in her glass.
Oh Yay! We haven't been able to comment on your site for a few days for some reason, so I'm glad we can now. Personally, I pretty much leave everything alone, but Harlie sticks her head all the way into drinking glasses. For some reason, she also dips her paw in our water dish every single time before she drinks out of it. She doesn't lick it though, she just shakes it off and then starts drinking like normal. Anyway, I love your technique George!
And HI TIPPER!!! Thanks so much for posting those beautiful pictures of you with your cat grass the other day. Harlie and I have never tried cat grass, but we have added it to the shopping list. Purrs and kisses to you Tipper!

Ice is awesome! Thanks for the tutorial.
This technique may be fun to try! Thanks for the tips. I've never "dipped" before!
You are one ice cool cat. FAZ
Thanks for your wise advice George. I'm with you, I like to stick my paw into glasses a lot but haven't tried cups yet because usually mom has hot stuff in those and I can see the steam coming out the top.
Haha, I do that too and have also taught General Yuan Yuan the trick.
Daddy is angry we leave wet dirty paw prints around the drinking area everytime we wash our paws in the water dish.
Regards from Bon Bon
Great tip! I usually stick my face right in it (Brach too). Brach is the one who bats any glass off the table, no matter if it's empty or full.
I just sit and laugh...
Hi george, How do I join the coats of many colors? Thanks. Sly
I like to push my head in as far as it will go and drink from Moms glass of water ~ko Ko and the poiland Tribe
George,
That is GREAT Advice! I think that you should have your own stroller. I don't think that your Dad really knows the benefits. My mom is really happy, because it helps her want to walk more because she doesn't like exercising. But she DOES like taking me for walks:) I hope you can get one someday.
