A Rooster is Getting Shot

MISTY

Mom, are we best friends?

MOM

What?

MISTY

I got a card from my doctor and Snoopy says best friends deserve best care, so I think we're probably best friends 'cause you take care of me, right?

MOM

Yes, that's right.

MISTY

Um...Mom? (looks around nervously)

MOM

Yes

MISTY

Do I have to go to the doctor's office, 'cause I haven't been there since I was sick when I was a baby and I had to take that yuckky medicine and I didn't like it and George says there's vampires at the doctor's office and if I go there they'll steal my blood and take my teeth and then shoot me and I'm afraaaaid (starts to cry)...(sob, sniff) and I DON'T WANT A VAMPIRE TO GET ME and...um (sniff) what's a vampire anyway?

MOM

George, stop scaring your sister with such nonsense!!

GEORGE

Heh, heh, heh!

MOM

There's nothing to be afraid of, Mist. You know I'd never let anything bad happen to you.

There is no such thing as vampires and besides, I'll be with you the whole time. Dr. L loves kitties and she'll just give you a quick checkup, then a booster shot. You won't even feel it and we'll be back home before you know it!

MISTY

A rooster will be at the doctor getting shot instead of me!! Poor rooster.

Hey, We stopped by to say thanks for coming by our journal. We have been reading yours for a bit and we have been enjoying it.

We are sorry the rooster will get shot instead of you. Not that we want you to get shot. We're peace-loving critters and we don't want anyone to get shot!

Poor rooster. I hope there's a rooster at our V-E-T's office, too. I heard a rumor that we have to go there soon, too.

Love,
Tazo

Oh Misty, I am so happy you don't have to go to the doctor for a shot...that's a scary place sometimes. Your mama will take care of you and keep the vampires a way.

Poor rooster indeed! Be brave, Misty. It won't be nearly as bad as your brother has led you to believe. Naughty George.

Uh Oh! You know what? There really IS a rooster that lives at our Vets - he has his own house and he cock-a-doodle-doos all morning. I don't think he's ever been shot.

Misty, you don't have to worry about going to the vet. Vets are nice people who just want to take care of us. :)

HA HA you had me going with that title of your post!! I hope you do not think me too ungracious of a kitty for taking such a long time to return your visit. You can only imagine how happy I was to see you come cheer me on while I was so very sick. Mommy was heartbroken and thought for sure I would not regain any of my spirit and was prepared for the worst. But I was worth a small miracle. With your purrrayers and some good medicine, I have regained my strength day by day. Mommy would not have made it through her worries about me without your comfort. Each night we keep you in our prayers and wish you endless Blessings this Thanksgiving season.
Love and hugs from our house to yours, Miss Peach and the mommy
